Dear SoTL Canada Colleagues,
(apologies for cross-posting; this went out to the STLHE listserv last week)
It is election time for the SoTL Canada Executive and two positions are open:
For each, the term of office is two years, with a maximum of two consecutive terms, beginning September 2015.
As mentioned at the AGM, the Nominations Committee would like to begin the process with an open call for nominations of individuals. Any member of SoTL Canada may also self-nominate. To nominate a candidate, we ask that you do the following:
- Check that the person is (or will shortly become) a member-in-good-standing of the SoTL Canada SIG;
- Verify that person’s willingness to stand;
- Ensure that the person will be able to attend the SoTL Canada Annual General Meeting (at the annual Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education conference held annually in June) and communicate electronically with general and executive members throughout their term; and
- Confirm with the individual that she/he is aware that the time and expenses associated with the Annual General Meeting of the SoTL Canada Special Interest Group (SIG), to be held during the Annual STLHE Conference (London, June 21st to 24th, 2016; 2017 date and location TBD) is the responsibility of the incumbent, and that, if they think it important, they should seek institutional support for this work from their direct supervisor. However, we provide free teleconferences and individuals could Skype into the conference AGM.
Once you have confirmed that the person is willing and able to make this commitment, please submit to the Nominations Committee (contact information below) a photograph, short biography and statement indicating their interest in the position (maximum 250 words) by 4:30 pm EDT on Thursday August 20, 2015.
SoTL Canada operates on a peer leadership model, with members encouraged to join a committee and contribute to its goal. Of the elected executive positions (each for a 2 year term, renewal once), two are open in this election:
Vice-Chair: The Vice-Chair provides support to the Chair and stands in when the Chair is unavailable, coordinates and liaises with SoTL Canada working groups, and contributes to special projects and initiatives as needed. The Vice-Chair attends executive meetings and the AGM.
Secretary: The Secretary takes minutes for the executive meetings (approximately 4 per year) and the AGM and prepares the agenda for each meeting in consultation with the Chair and other executive members, and updates the website.

Thank you for your interest and contributions to SoTL Canada.
